Charlie Company 2016 Memorial for our Brother Richard J. Conrardy

The last leg of this journey ends just 11 miles east of Dodge City KS where Glenn Green, Glenn Shuman (his wife Denise) and I met up with Ken Pitetti and Tom Weides (his wife Cheryl) for the memorial for Richard Conrardy. _________________________________

Father Bob led the opening prayer, we introduced each of the Charlie Company men who laid a coin on Richard's headstone noting we had served in the same unit. LT Pitetti told the story July 2nd and the heroic efforts of Richard Conrardy to save the life of SGT Herndon, the plaque was given by Lt Pitetti to Richard's brother Don, poems "A Soldiers Reflection" and "Live Brother Live" were read, Tom Weides told the story and the words of Taps, honors with taps as LT called Charlie Company to attention, we presented arms to salute our fallen brother Richard Conrardy. ___________________________________________________________________________________________
Afterward a man came to Glenn Shuman and told of his son who had died in Afghanistan who was buried in the same small cemetery. We asked if we could provide honors to his son and quickly responded he would be very pleased if we would remember his son SSG Benjamin Morton. LT Pitetti called Charlie Company to attention, present arms and his son was honored. Tears streamed from the fathers face as he thanked everyone and told his sons story.

St Andrews Church of Wright KS provided lunch for us as we gathered and visited together with a large number who had come out to remember a special brother, friend, classmate from their hometown.
